I have recently, belatedly, discovered that people all over the Internet give away free, brand-new books. Most of the time, all you have to do is indicate your willingness to accept them and wait for the luck of the draw.
Book bloggers are in the midst of a give-away frenzy, so if you're interested, start with Eva's blog, In a Striped Armchair. She'll point you to a few other bloggers doing the same thing.
There are also blogs that specialize in reviewing specific kinds of books. They often have complimentary copies from the publishers to give away so are usually running book draws a couple of times a week. Fantasy Book Critic is a good example.
And last but not least, check out your favourite author's blog or website. They sometimes have freebies too, especially if they're debut authors trying to get attention.
Then there's that nasty Edward Willett at Hassenpfeffer who managed to not draw my name SIX WEEKS RUNNING! And Marseguro looks like a good read too. I suppose this means I shall have to spend money to do so.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have free books to read...

I love the idea of a frenzy! Although the books I'm giving away aren't new, they are in great condition. :D Awhile back, a few of us did posts on various sources for free books, so it's fun to see you joining in!
Ooh, I love me a good free book or two! Thanks for the info.
You know me, always happy to serve. At the time and place of my choosing... ;o)
I received an ARC of Souvenir in the mail after totally forgetting I had requested it. It's a great read so far!
My daughter bought me Lottery and Look Me In The Eye for Christmas.
I keep trying to win Holly Kennedy's Silver Compass but haven't managed to get my paws on one. I guess I'll have to fork out some cash for a change.
I shelled out for Lottery too. And I have The Longevity Thesis by Jennifer Rahn and Liar's Diary by Patry Francis waiting for me, along with a large stack of other books I've acquired and not yet read. I've declared a moratorium on book-buying until I get through them.
Unless, of course... No, I won't even say it.
With this post, I think I just fell in love with you, J.
Lucky for you, you're married! :-) And have better taste in men than me, I should hope. lol
I'll definitely have to scope these out. Wow, you're great.
Oh dear. I'll have to add you to the waiting list... But by the time you get to the top you'll have fallen for someone younger with more books.
L'uomo e mobile, or something like that.
Nope. Beyond you, now, I'm in love with Martha Stewart and HM the Queen, alone, though for different reasons:
the more money I imagine either of them to have, the younger and more attractive they are to me! :-o
So much easier to just point a guy in the direction of free books...
